Chapter 12: It Suits Me.

Magic Game Experience and Creation.

A course in the liberal arts category where you experience and enjoy games created with magical formulas, then use that gameplay experience to create your own game.

Though the grandiose keyword magic was part of the course title, the concept was actually quite simple.

"Play fun games and make one yourself."

Even if the latter was considerably more difficult, at least the former would be enjoyable.

When I registered for my courses, I mostly chose academic and practical lectures, making this class a refreshing break—a ray of light and a place to relax.

‘Besides, it’s kind of like a hybrid between VR and virtual reality.’

I once spent my days eagerly waiting for Sword Art Online to become a reality.

For someone like me, who had longed for the advancement of science, this was an amazing opportunity.

Even better, there were rumors it could be helpful in actual combat.

What an incredibly worthwhile course.

[The goddess scowls and asks if I just wanted to play games.]

She wouldn’t understand.

The goddess, who had never dreamed of virtual reality while living through an age of savagery, could hardly grasp how long I had yearned for this moment.

Even though it was magical technology instead of science, it was still a wondrous game.

Our team, who would enjoy this game together, consisted of four members in total.

“Yahoo! Our team combination feels pretty good. My name is Maho. I’m majoring in Magical Research and came from Japan.”

A cheerful-looking girl with sparkling pink hair.

Maho, a student from the Magical Research Department.

If my former otaku self had seen her, I would have undoubtedly called her "Pink-chan."

Yes, it was only fitting that a place like this academy had at least one person like her on the team.

[The goddess mutters that I’m still a massive weeb…]

Ignoring the goddess’ strange mutterings, I focused on the other teammates.

“Hello. I’m Emir from the Hunter Support Department.”

A male student with deep blue hair and a slender frame.

Emir, from the Hunter Support Department.

Honestly, after fighting alongside all-male hero parties for 20 years, I had no particular reason to be excited about another guy.

But considering this academy was filled with women, seeing another man felt unexpectedly novel and pleasant.

‘Oh, so there are other guys here besides me.’

For a while, seeing only women made me feel like I had somehow enrolled in an all-girls school.

Meeting another man made me feel as if I had finally found an ally.

However, I must clarify something here: I had no interest in other men or shota characters.

So, after offering a brief nod of acknowledgment, I moved on to the next person.

The final member was someone who had already stood out during the entrance ceremony and the level test.

“...Sephine Alavad. I’m a new student in the Combat Department. I look forward to working with you.”

Sephine Alavad.

From the renowned Alavad magic family.

While her striking beauty, reminiscent of a TV celebrity, was noteworthy, what was even more memorable was the massive hunk of metal she always carried with her.

‘She’s from the manipulation or summoning department, right?’

It was clear from the context that she controlled the hulking piece of metal beside her.

I had seen her earlier during Professor Shin Arin’s lecture, and from then until now, I noticed she kept sneaking glances at me.

Her eyes and expression were filled with curiosity and interest.

‘Wait, does she like me?’

Knowing that my appearance was objectively attractive, the thought briefly crossed my mind.

[The goddess advises you not to let your good looks inflate your ego too much.]

Ah… was I being too hasty?

Every time I was about to fall into narcissism, the goddess would grumble something, making it hard for me to get carried away.

Chastising myself for being presumptuous, I finally introduced myself—a rare occasion after so many years.

“Hello, I’m Shin Yuseong from Combat Class 1. I enjoy games, which is why I enrolled in this course. I look forward to working with you all for the next six months.”

It wasn’t flashy, but it was a proper introduction.

I had the urge to be more creative or humorous, but after leading a hero party for so many years, it had been far too long since I last introduced myself.

‘It’s probably been over ten years.’

After so long, my self-promotion skills had completely atrophied.

A clumsy attempt at being funny would only come across as awkward.

As a self-awareness expert, I decided to be content with my standard introduction.

“Oh! You like games? That’s unexpected!”

“Oh, nice to meet you.”

“…Six months, huh. Yes, I look forward to it.”

Surprisingly, their reactions were warmer than I expected.

Everyone smiled at me with a sense of goodwill, and Pink-chan even clapped her hands in excitement.

Emir, the male student, seemed to like games as well, giving me a friendlier expression.

As for Sephine Alavad, the noblewoman, she seemed to be murmuring something to herself, as if recalling a memory.

‘Wait, why is that unexpected? Do I not look like a gamer?’

Did I look like the sociable type?

I pondered whether I should feel complimented or insulted, considering my past as a hardcore gamer.

In the end, I decided to take it as a positive.

‘Yes, Yuseong, embrace the ‘fun-loving’ mode, just like that annoying goddess says.’

After all, I had enrolled in this course to enjoy myself.

Now that the team introductions were over, it was time to dive into the game.

The rules for today’s game were fairly straightforward.

We would follow the story as guided by a magical AI master.

It resembled an open-world game but was closer to a TRPG (tabletop role-playing game).

We would roll dice, and the numbers would determine our actions and outcomes, moving the story forward through role-playing.

Of course, since this was a magic-enhanced game, it wasn’t just staring at a board and mumbling.

“Mufufufu, GAME OPEN.”

The professor chuckled darkly like a villain as she activated the enchantments on the board.

With a humming sound, rectangular blue barriers rose around the table, enclosing it up to the ceiling.

We were completely sealed in, as if we had stepped into a digital world.

Though the surroundings were initially a monotonous shade of blue, they didn’t stay that way for long.

A large die appeared before me.

It was a gem-like shade of blue, just like the space around us, and floated lightly, responding to my gaze.

When I thought of "throwing it," the die automatically rose into the air.

Thunk, roll, roll—

The dice, thrown high into the air, crashed to the ground and tumbled across the floor for a while before finally revealing its number to me.

<Jackpot!>

<‘6’!>

Oh, that means I’ll get a good class…

<Your class is Hero!>

“……Ah.”

I’d already been playing with this class alone for nearly 20 years—can’t I get something else?

[The goddess smiles radiantly and tells you to accept your fate.]

For a moment, I was tempted to reroll.

* * *

Meanwhile, Sephine couldn’t believe her eyes.

“Terrible misfortune. You rolled a 1 and became a pathetic goblin……?”

She frowned, wondering if she was seeing things or if the game was simply broken.

Either way, she didn’t like it.

Buzzz—

As the dice’s result was confirmed, a wave of blue mana flowed out, enveloping her.

Sephine Alavad scowled as she examined her transformed body.

Dull, muddy green skin and the short, stocky form of a goblin.

She considered herself to be fairly level-headed, but even a noble lady of a prestigious family had basic standards.

‘……Seriously, what the hell is this?’

Her mood plummeted.

She had chosen this elective course to relax, not to be humiliated.

It was still the add/drop period, so she debated dropping the class altogether.

Just as she was about to make up her mind—

<Jackpot!>

<‘6’!>

“Oh.”

Her mood suddenly lifted.

Yes, this was how it should be—she needed more high rolls like that.

Reading the prompt floating above the dice, she examined the benefits she would receive this time.

Class selection.

Several excellent options appeared before her eyes.

She knew she would eventually have to form a balanced party for the journey ahead, as the tales said they would be torn apart if they weren’t prepared.

Though she herself was a mage, she understood the importance of both frontline and rear support roles.

“Hmm, this one seems the best. Let’s go with it.”

After selecting her class, Sephine watched as her body glimmered with light, transforming again.

She looked herself over and nodded.

Yes, this was definitely better than before.

She wasn’t entirely sure, but probably.

‘Now, I guess I should find some allies.’

Unfamiliar with how these kinds of games typically progressed, she glanced around.

It was then that she realized the once-blue void was transforming into a fully realized world.

A meadow of lush green grass spread out before her, with a village enclosed by a wooden fence off in the distance.

And in front of it stood a man.

Shin Yuseong.

The famed "legendary handsome guy."

‘……Oh, ohhh.’

Sephine Alavad widened her eyes in disbelief.

She blinked several times, but thankfully, the heavenly scene before her didn’t disappear.

Roll,

The dice moved on its own again, and the outcome was displayed.

“……Dice roll 6. You have met a Hero as your first companion.”

Huh, a Hero, no less.

‘Fitting.’

She had never been one to fangirl over anyone, yet in this moment, Sephine found herself becoming utterly devoted to character development.

“Oh, jackpot.”

The handsome man smiled brightly, clearly delighted to meet her as well.

‘Who knew this game would be so thrilling?’

Sephine Alavad was now fully invested.

* * *

<Jackpot!>

<‘6’!>

<Party formation complete!>

A golden goblin, carrying a large, luxurious backpack, appeared before me.

“Oh, jackpot.”

In 20 years of playing as a Hero, I had never seen a goblin of that color before, and I was impressed.

“Kkirik.”

The goblin seemed a little shy for some reason.
