Chapter 4: With a Sly Smile, She Prepares the Operation.

[The hero heightens his vigilance after facing an unexpected situation.]

[He adopts the stealth of an assassin.]

[Avoids people's gaze!]

[(ㅁ_ㅁ)]

[He belatedly wonders what he got wrong in the previous situation.]

The goddess, who had been quietly observing the hero Shin Yuseong, slapped her forehead.

Even as a transcendent being, she was left speechless.

‘Is this for real?’

She had set the stage after hearing him sing about love, yet now he was acting so wary.

“Geez, just enjoy the attention, will you?”

Instead of living it up as the campus heartthrob, he remained utterly clueless about why people were staring at him.

After spending years only with his musclehead warrior party, had his brain actually turned into protein?

Why couldn’t he realize that people were glancing at him simply because he was handsome?

[The hero marvels at the academy campus.]

[He observes the students wielding magic and feels the reality of this new world sink in.]

“Ah, right. He barely ever went out, did he?”

For some reason, the hero seemed to view her—an exalted goddess—as a ditzy voyeur and a millennia-old spinster.

But she was still a transcendent being who knew how to repay kindness.

After all, he had been summoned as a hero, flown to a distant star, and protected an entire world.

How could she not reward him properly?

As he had requested, she preserved as much of his power as possible.

And she had even scouted out a pleasant world where he could enjoy a peaceful life.

On top of that, she had discreetly prepared a luxurious apartment whose property value would only rise in the future.

She made sure he wouldn’t have to worry about money either, securing plenty of cash and cryptocurrency.

But that’s where the problem began.

…With nothing lacking, he spent several months holed up at home, endlessly watching dramas, anime, and movies online.

And since his ultra-luxurious apartment complex had convenience stores and restaurants within the premises, he had no need to leave.

The only time he ventured outside was to visit the convenience store in the complex.

[The goddess cheerfully mentions how the convenience store staff always looks startled when they see the hero.]

[(ㅎ_ㅎ)]

[With a teasing smile, she asks him what the daily life of a popular man is like.]

‘No way. Hmm, but they do seem a bit flustered. Could it be that I’m still giving off too much of my hero-era intimidation? Should I just stay home until I can control it better?’

“Ah, geez.”

Recalling the past, the goddess let out a sigh.

She had thought he was joking when he said that, but it turned out he had been dead serious.

But seriously, how could he mistake the store clerk admiring his looks for reverence?

Once again, the goddess smacked her forehead and frowned slightly as she stared at the hero.

[The hero reminisces about old memories and smiles.]

[(ㅎ_ㅎ)]

[Before he knows it, he arrives at the auditorium for the entrance ceremony and begins observing the people around him.]

Even in the distant past, his appearance had been exceptional.

After multiple rounds of rebirth and refinement, even the gods found him pleasing to the eye.

In other words, he was ridiculously handsome.

But on his long journey of demon-slaying, there had been no occasion for compliments on his appearance.

And after shattering stars, most people were too intimidated to say anything other than praise, whether they meant it or not.

He had grown so used to empty flattery that he no longer took people’s words at face value.

“Hey, I’m telling you—you’re good-looking. Why won’t you believe me? Are you seriously ignoring a goddess? You wanna quit being a hero? Huh?”

With a deliberately rough tone and a mischievous glare, the goddess muttered under her breath—then remembered that her voice was currently blocked from reaching the hero.

Hmm, now that she thought about it, the apostle she had raised was truly both admirable and insufferable.

Letting out a long sigh, she glanced at the hero, who was curiously scanning the auditorium.

‘Fine. If he won’t realize it himself, I’ll just keep hammering it in until he does.’

With that sudden realization, the goddess began preparing some extra MSG.

She dubbed it the "Red Pill Operation."

A long-term project designed to ensure the hero had a love-filled, blissful academy life.

* * *

‘Wow, this auditorium is massive.’

Recalling my old high school gymnasium, which now seemed like a distant memory, I glanced around at the crowded hall.

Even though it was a hunter academy, the fact that there were more women was something I had grown used to.

Still, seeing the students dressed in casual clothes made it feel more like a regular college.

It was quite fascinating to see them carrying swords, spears, and staffs as if it were the most natural thing in the world—a fitting sight for a monster-filled reality.

It truly hit me again: I was in a different world.

The same feeling I had when I was summoned as a hero before now washed over me once more.

Of course, that was a long time ago—back in the days when high school gymnasiums were part of my daily life.

But still, a harem romantic comedy academy life with peers my age was definitely a hundred times better than the blood-soaked, demon-slaying hero party.

Although, considering the current situation—where I was minimizing my presence as much as possible—it seemed likely that this would be neither a harem nor a romantic comedy, but simply an academy life.

‘At least no one here treats me like a god.’

No one knew that I was once a hero.

No one knew that I had split an alien planet in half.

A perfectly clean slate.

Here, I could live comfortably as a fairly capable person, without anyone digging into my past.

And if I happened to meet a beautiful, kind-hearted woman with a great figure and good chemistry with me—my destined partner—it would be all the better.

Even if I ended up veering into the self-made, overpowered hunter route, it wouldn’t be such a bad outcome.

For now, my goal was simply to enjoy a carefree life here.

‘Still… the students are stronger than I expected.’

Of course, none of them were stronger than me—the guy who had once split a star.

But among them were individuals who could have given my early adventurer self a good fight.

And among the faculty were plenty of people whose abilities wouldn’t be out of place in a royal knight order or a hero party.

In this world, they were known as S-rank hunters.

According to the internet, they were among the highest-ranked powerhouses in the world.

If the academy was capable of recruiting such people as professors, I couldn’t help but wonder how much they were paying them.

Or maybe the benefits were just that good?

‘Hmm… maybe I should consider becoming a professor here later.’

Though, in my current weakened state—where I could only tap into about 10% of my former potential—I wasn’t sure I could instantly qualify for a professor position.

Then again, maybe I could intimidate them into hiring me?

Either way, it was a path I had walked before, and regaining my old form would be a matter of time.

By the standards of my original world, I was supposed to be a college student anyway—there was no need to rush.

Yes, I should focus on adapting first.

With that in mind, I made a point of eavesdropping on the conversations around me.

I had no idea who was famous or where anyone came from yet, so I figured I should absorb as much information as possible.

“Hey, isn’t that the ‘Ice Blossom’ they’ve been hyping up as a genius at the Blue Magic Tower?”

“Whoa, even the Alavad family sent their kid here? They could’ve just gone to their own academy.”

“Well, that just shows how prestigious our academy is. The faculty lineup is legendary this year. All the prominent clans and sect heirs are gathered here.”

“Yeah, if they skipped out, it would make them look weak in front of the big shots.”

Of course, there was always that one guy playing the role of Speedwagon—the commentator who conveniently knew all the details.

I quietly nodded, soaking in the information.

I wasn’t trying to lurk around like some shady figure—it was just a strategic retreat to avoid drawing attention in the crowded auditorium.

It couldn’t be helped.

Without a shred of guilt, I casually picked up on rumors about a famous spirit mage from Japan who had transferred in, and how the next head of a mystical martial sect was so powerful that you’d be left in pieces if you crossed them.

Thus, I spent the entrance ceremony quietly absorbing the local gossip.

“Welcome, students of Seoul Academy of Supernatural Abilities. There are many things I want to share with you. First, let me tell you a story from my time living in California…”

The academy clearly had plenty of money and a stellar faculty, but for some reason, the chairman’s speech was still painfully boring.

For a brief moment, I was hit with PTSD, reminded of the long-winded, sermonizing cardinal from my hero party days.

[‘The Guardian of Order and Causality’ prepares a sinister plan with a sly smile.]

[(ㅎ^ㅎ)]

[Manufacturing the red pill.]

Bored, I briefly lifted the block on the goddess’s messages and spied on her correspondence.

The content seemed suspicious.

I frowned, trying to decipher the hidden meaning, but soon shook my head and re-blocked her.

‘The goddess is scheming something weird again…’

I still couldn’t figure out how she had managed to produce a flawless hero like me.

Finally, the chairman’s endless, tedious speech came to an end, and a few professors stepped up, delivering concise, impactful addresses.

I silently wished for a quicker generational turnover.

“We will now have the oath by the freshman representative.”

Just as I thought the ceremony was finally wrapping up, yet another formality was announced.

Maybe I was just out of touch with school customs, but the sheer amount of pomp and circumstance made me wonder if Korean entrance ceremonies had turned into aristocratic banquets.

Wouldn’t it be better to just dismiss everyone and let them mingle with their peers?

As I was having such thoughts, I turned to watch the student walking up the stage, heels clicking crisply against the floor.

“Top of the class, Cheon Juyeon.”

The beautiful female student wore a radiant smile.

But for some reason, I sensed a dark and ominous energy emanating from her—one that felt strangely familiar.
