Chapter 1
Sword God Ernstine.
The Grand Sword Master, the first human to unify the continent, muttered as he stared into the mirror.
“…What in the world is going on?”
Dull, lifeless eyes.
Bloated, sagging cheeks.
A neck so thick it nearly matched the width of his face, and a body so swollen it looked like it could burst at any moment.
A man, so excessively overweight that he could barely support himself, stood before him.
At fifty years old, he had once been hailed as the most handsome man on the continent—yet that appearance was nowhere to be found.
Ernstine pinched his cheek.
The pressure from his thick fingers made him instinctively frown.
‘This isn’t a dream.’
What exactly had happened?
Just a few days ago, he had been relinquishing the imperial throne.
The abdication ceremony came to mind.
—“Father… Are you truly planning to pass the throne to me?”
At the age of fifty, Ernstine had reached the peak of Grand Sword Mastery, still in his prime.
The people of the empire had expected him to rule the Unified Empire of Meier for many more years.
But defying all expectations, he handed the throne over to the Crown Prince.
—“The Meier Empire belongs to humankind. This is an appropriate length for a ruler’s reign. I will step back and remain as the empire’s protector.”
—“But I am still young and lack experience…”
—“It’s fine. I am here, am I not? I will support the empire you lead to the very end.”
After proclaiming himself the eternal guardian of Meier and holding a grand abdication ceremony, he went to sleep—
Only to wake up in a completely different world the next day.
The First Day
“Phaa… Hyooo… Hoo.”
His body felt heavy.
What the hell is this…?
Was this the Empress?
“Ugh… Urgh…!”
He jolted upright—
Or at least, he tried to.
Had it not been for something pressing against his stomach, he might have succeeded.
“…What the hell is this?”
His once rock-solid, muscular abdomen was gone.
In its place was an enormous, bulging belly.
It stuck out so much that he couldn’t even lift his upper body on his own.
Panicked, he rolled to the side.
Thud!
“No way…!”
Even after rolling once, his body still hit the floor.
A sharp pain shot through his left arm.
A sensation he hadn’t felt since attaining the level of Grand Sword Master.
The sudden, unfamiliar feeling jolted Ernstine fully awake.
This was an emergency.
He attempted to assess the situation by circulating mana within his body.
However, he couldn’t sense even a trace of mana inside him…
And this massive body refused to move as he wished.
“Haa… Haaak…!”
A simple act—trying to lift himself after falling off the bed.
Yet, even that left his breathing ragged.
His body was unbelievably heavy.
Even taking a step felt exhausting.
“A mirror.”
A pitch-dark room.
Fortunately, moonlight seeped in, faintly illuminating the space.
He walked toward the nearest mirror.
“Who… is this?”
A stranger stood in the reflection.
Kaylen Starn.
Nineteen years old.
A second-year student in the Royal Academy’s magic class.
“The place I’m currently staying in… is a dormitory.”
Two Days.
It had been two days since Ernstine found himself in Kaylen Starn’s body.
The First Day.
At first, he thought it was just a dream.
After tumbling out of bed and checking his face in the mirror—
“Pheww… Ugh!”
His breath hitched involuntarily, and suddenly, his control over his body vanished.
“…Huh? Why am I just standing here, staring at the mirror? Haaahm.”
With a wide yawn, the massive body turned back toward the bed.
Thud!
The moment he lay down, snoring filled the room once more.
[Now that I’ve stepped down from the throne, I’m even having strange dreams like this.]
As if he had truly possessed another body, Ernstine’s consciousness blended seamlessly into the massive figure.
And the moment that body fell asleep, Ernstine’s vision also darkened.
‘Guess this dream is ending now.’
However, contrary to his expectations, the dream didn’t end.
“Mmmnya… Munch…”
As morning arrived, his vision brightened again.
The large body wobbled as it slowly sat up.
“I’m hungry…”
Even as he waddled toward the wardrobe and struggled to dress, his thoughts didn’t cease.
‘Today is Wednesday. Wednesday means the dormitory cafeteria! Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all delicious.’
‘Especially lunch… It’s worth coming back to the dorm even during the semester for it.’
‘Ahh~ And the salmon steak they serve for dinner just melts in your mouth. The best part? Hardly anyone eats at the dorm cafeteria at night, so I can eat as much as I want. Hehehe…’
His mind was entirely focused on food.
That thought was transmitted directly to Ernstine as well.
[…He really loves eating.]
He clicked his tongue at the man’s thoughts, but only for a moment.
Ernstine could feel the sensations in this "dream" becoming increasingly vivid.
[Why am I not waking up?]
The weight pressing down on his body.
The rough, labored breathing.
The growling of an empty stomach.
The sweat trickling down his skin even while standing still.
All of it felt far too real.
"Chomp. Chomp. Let’s hurry up."
The body's owner stepped out of the dormitory room.
Though he wanted to move quickly, his body was sluggish.
Even a short walk left him gasping for breath.
As he descended the stairs, his knees ached, and sweat poured down like rain.
‘My body feels heavy… I should eat less today.’
Observing his condition, the body’s owner reflected on his habits.
However, the moment he caught a whiff of food, that resolution vanished without a trace.
‘Today’s meal smells amazing!’
The thought of food made him forget the pain in his body.
His mind focused solely on the breakfast menu.
Even Ernstine, who had been watching, found himself affected by the sheer intensity of the desire.
[Just how delicious is this food for him to react like this?]
During his reign as emperor, Ernstine had relieved his stress through eating.
For decades, he had only consumed the finest cuisine, prepared by the continent’s greatest chefs.
Naturally, he was curious about what the body’s owner was so eager to eat…
[That’s it? The menu is too simple.]
Toasted bread with eggs and vegetables.
Compared to the luxurious meals prepared daily by imperial chefs, it was laughably basic.
[Well, I suppose I did eat things like this when I was younger…]
Yet, despite its simplicity, the body’s owner took deep, ragged breaths and shoveled the food into his mouth.
Chomp chomp. Chomp chomp.
Gulp gulp.
In less than ten seconds, breakfast was completely gone.
"Ahh~ That was amazing, as always."
Every bite was packed with flavor, awakening his senses.
Ernstine, sharing this body’s sensations, felt the same.
[How can such an ordinary meal taste this good?]
The toasted bread practically melted in his mouth.
Even the vegetables, which he usually ignored, were delicious.
Even the water the body’s owner drank tasted sweeter than the finest liquor.
Though his body had changed, the difference in how he experienced food was like night and day.
"One more plate, please!"
"Y-Yes, of course."
The body’s owner got up once again to get another serving.
The staff handed over the pre-prepared breakfast as if they had expected this in advance.
Their expression practically screamed, "He eats exactly as he looks."
But the body’s owner remained unfazed by such looks, returning to his seat and emptying the plate immediately.
And once again, it didn’t take more than ten seconds.
"The food here is good, but the portions are way too small."
Grumbling, he patted his protruding belly.
Just as he said, his stomach growled, still unsatisfied.
[What kind of body is this…?]
The second plate was emptied in an instant.
"One more plate, please."
He finished the third plate before even sitting down.
"This is ridiculous. Just give me a big portion."
"…Understood."
Now, he received two plates at once and devoured them with both hands.
Chomp chomp. Chomp chomp.
In less than ten minutes, five plates were gone.
By this point, Ernstine started to feel sick of the food.
But this body felt nothing of the sort.
"Now we’re just getting started."
Smack. Smack.
The body’s owner stood up and slapped his belly.
Both his arms and his gut jiggled violently from the impact.
"Two more plates, please~"
[…You glutton, stop eating already!]
How many times was he going to eat the same dish?
But his plea went unheard. The body’s owner continued stuffing his face as if possessed.
"This should be enough."
By the time twenty plates were stacked in front of him, he seemed to have finally reached some level of fullness and stood up.
Only then did Ernstine let out a sigh of relief.
[Hah… He’s still not completely full, but at least he has some self-restraint.]
Even after twenty plates, his stomach wasn’t completely satisfied.
Yet, seeing him stop eating of his own will, Ernstine thought he must have had some discipline.
And then—
"I need to eat a lot for lunch. And dinner, too."
[…]
The body’s owner was thinking ahead.
"Huff… Huff…"
Watching him throughout the day was nothing short of pathetic.
[Even beasts don’t act like this.]
Eat, digest, eat again, digest again—an endless cycle.
At least animals stop eating when they’re full.
This man had no such limit.
The twenty plates at breakfast had been him holding back.
For lunch and dinner, he entered the dining hall as soon as it opened—
And didn’t leave until it closed.
[With that much eating, of course there’s that much… output.]
After eating that much, frequent trips to the bathroom were inevitable.
Watching it all unfold without any filter, Ernstine felt so disgusted that his stomach churned.
What was even more horrifying was the body’s stomach.
Even after eating that much, it was still hungry.
[I just want to wake up from this dream already.]
He no longer wanted to witness this wretched sight.
All he could do was hope that once the body’s owner fell asleep, he would finally wake up from this nauseating nightmare.
"Haaaahm… The salmon… was delicious."
After going in and out of the bathroom countless times, the body’s owner—seemingly satisfied—smacked his lips and carefully lay down on the bed.
Creak. Creak.
The bed let out ominous sounds.
"Tomorrow, the library menu should be good."
Ignoring the noises, he thought only about food before quickly drifting off to sleep.
[If this is a dream, let me wake up already!]
As soon as the body’s owner fell asleep, Ernstine desperately wished for this to end.
But things took an unexpected turn.
"Kghh… Ugh…"
The body’s owner, who had been snoring loudly, suddenly started breathing irregularly.
"Ghh… Ghh…"
[…His airway is blocked!]
His heart pounded violently, and his blood pressure surged in response to the emergency.
Since Ernstine could feel the body’s sensations, he immediately realized something was wrong.
[To stop breathing in his sleep…]
A symptom caused by obstructed airways due to excessive fat buildup.
The body’s owner needed to wake up immediately—but he wasn’t.
Who knew how long it had been since his breathing stopped?
The rapidly pounding heartbeat slowed.
Ernstine could feel something leaving the body.
At the same time, his sense of reality intensified.
"…It’s moving."
Possession.
With the body’s owner dead, Ernstine had gained control over the body.
